Aguilera, Nyfjall, Pendaries and Hanisch through to semi-finals of The Boys Amateur Championship

In the morning’s quarter finals, Alejandro Aguilera’s match against Danny Daniels went to the 22nd hole after the Spaniard sank a superb birdie on the 18th to make it all-square and progress to sudden death.

The 19th, 20th and 21st holes were shared, before Daniels bogeyed the 22nd hole to give the 16-year-old the win and end the hopes of winner from Great Britain and Ireland.

David Nyfjall produced a remarkable comeback from four holes down to reached the semi-finals with a dramatic 3&1 win over Lucas Becht.

The Swede had it all to do after Becht won four holes in a row from the 3rd, but recovered to match his opponent’s earlier feat, winning the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th holes to return the duel to all-square.

Nyfjall found himself in front for the first time in the contest after the Belgian conceded on the 15th, and closed out the match shortly after by birdying the next two holes for a memorable victory.

Adrien Pendaries secured a 3&2 success against Matias Honkola to reach the last four. The lead was shared several times in an exciting encounter, but the Frenchman took control of the match after birdying the 12th, before winning three of the next four holes to move into the semi-finals.

Falko Hanisch made it through to the penultimate stage of the Championship following a win by one hole over Charlie Thornton.

The Englishman held the lead for the first five holes, before bogeying the 6th to put the match back on parity at all-square.

A birdie by Hanisch on the 12th gave the German a two hole advantage, but Thornton struck back to claim wins on the 13th and 15th hole s to level the match once again.

Nevertheless, a birdie on the par-5 17th for Hanisch gave him a one hole advantage going down the last and the match came to a conclusion when the 18th was halved.
