TICKETS PURCHASED BY 13 DECEMBER WILL ARRIVE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS

29 November 2010, St Andrews, Scotland: Discounted tickets for the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George's should be purchased by Monday 13 December 2010 to ensure that they are delivered in time for Christmas.

The R&A has made significant discounts available to those purchasing tickets for the 2011 Open, this year. Spectators can purchase an eight-day season ticket for just £195, a saving of almost 20%, or pick up daily tickets for any of the four Championship days (14-17 July 2011) for £50, a discount of £10 on the price spectators will pay at the gate.

Purchases must be made before 31 December 2010 to take advantage of these reductions on daily, season and a number of concessionary tickets. Prices will increase from 1 January 2011.

Under-16's will once again be admitted free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult, meaning that, for example, a family of five can spend a day at golf’s oldest Major for just £100.

A variety of hospitality packages are also available, serving guests with à la carte fine dining, accompanied by a selection of wines and champagne, from the comfort of a private marquee in the Tented Village to the right of the first fairway. Programmes, car parking passes, admission tickets and access to a dedicated business centre are also included. Special Christmas gift deals on Open Championship packages start from £260 per person.

"Whether enjoying a day, a week or a hospitality package, a trip to The Open Championship is always a wonderful experience," said The R&A's Director of Championships, David Hill. "It's every golf fan's dream ticket and makes the perfect present; especially when there are substantial discounts to be taken advantage of."

Daily ticket holders who want to enhance their Open Championship visit can purchase access to the International Marquee, a limited availability facility in the heart of the Tented Village, less than a wedge from the first tee and a five-iron from the 18th green. Inside, members of the general public can take a break from walking the course in a relaxing environment, whilst keeping track of the golf on television and enjoying quality food and drink. International Marquee access on the four championship days costs £40 and must be accompanied by a valid ticket permitting course access.

The Greenside Club ticket will once again provide admission to the course, access to a private marquee and reserved seats within the grandstand behind the 18th green, which provides unparalleled viewing of The Open's 72nd hole. Inside the marquee, televisions offer uninterrupted live footage and real-time scores from the course, and complimentary newspapers, tea and coffee will be provided.

Ticket enquiries should be directed through Opengolf.com or +44 (0) 1334 460010. For more information about The Open Championship hospitality packages, visit Opengolfofficialhospitality.com.
