Great Britan & Ireland team announced for Jacques Leglise Trophy match
The R&A has announced the Great Britain & Ireland team to contest the 2011 Jacques Leglise Trophy Match. The nine-man team to face the Continent of Europe at Real Sociedad de Golf de Neguri, Spain are as follows:

- Harrison Greenberry (England)
- Gary Hurley (Ireland)
- Nathan Kimsey (England)
- Paul Kinnear (England)
- Dermot McElroy (Ireland)
- Gavin Moynihan (Ireland)
- Callum Shinkwin (England)
- Toby Tree (England)
Welsh Boys’ Champion and Internationalist, David Boote (Walton Health) leads out a strong GB&I team in their attempt to win back the Jacques Leglise Trophy from a confident Continent of Europe side. Attention will undoubtedly focus on 17-year-old Harrison Greenberry from Exeter who won the 2011 Boys Amateur Championship at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club eight days ago.
The four other English players in the GB&I team were all members of the victorious England side at the recent Boys Home Internationals, played at Royal St David’s in Wales. 2011 Peter McEvoy Trophy winner, Nathan Kimsey (Woodhall Spa), 2010 Carris Trophy winner, Callum Shinkwin from Moor Park, Paul Kinnear from Formby who finished 5th equal at this year’s Brabazon Trophy, and Worthing’s Toby Tree, winner of this year’s Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.
Irish International Dermot McElroy from Ballymena will provide valuable experience, selected again after representing GB&I in Italy last year. Fellow countrymen Gary Hurley (West Waterford) and Gavin Moynihan (The Island) represented Ireland at the 2011 Boys Home Internationals.
The Continent of Europe’s most talented players aged 18 or under will be attempting to defend their title in Spain. Their nine-man team includes France’s Kenny Subregis, European Young Masters Boys’ Champion and leading qualifier at this year’s Boys Amateur Championship.
Jon Rahm, 2010 Spanish Junior Champion, and Javier Saintz, the 2010 Spanish International Youth champion, bring welcomed local knowledge to the side. Germany’s Maximilian Rottluff, runner-up in the 2010 Boys Amateur Championship has also been selected.
“We have picked a very strong team and one that we hope will be capable of regaining the Trophy,” said Chairman of R&A Boys Selectors, Peter McEvoy. “However we are aware that the Continent of Europe are a powerful team too and that we will have to produce some great golf to prevail.”
The Jacques Leglise Trophy Match will be held at Neguri, Spain, on 26 & 27 August. Four foursomes ties will be played each morning, with eight singles matches being played on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
