US Walker Cup Team complete with final three named
The USGA have finalised their team for the 2011 Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of September.
Seven members of Captain Jim Holtgrieve’s squad had previously been named, and one of the remaining three places was granted to Kelly Kraft, who overcame World Amateur Golf Ranking number one Patrick Cantlay in the 36-hole matchplay final of the U.S. Amateur Championship at Erin Hills. The 22-year-old from Texas defeated Cantlay by two holes to seal his place at Royal Aberdeen, and will be joined by fellow Texan and number two in the World Amatuer Golf Rankings, Jordan Spieth, with 21-year-old Blayne Barber completing the 10-man squad.
Previously, Patrick Cantlay, 19, Los Alamitos, Calif.; Harris English, 22, Thomasville, Ga.; Russell Henley, 22, Macon, Ga.; Patrick Rodgers, 18, Avon, Ind.; Nathan Smith, 33, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Chris Williams, 20, Moscow, Idaho; and Peter Uihlein, 21, Orlando, Fla., were named to the team that will compete against Great Britain and Ireland (view team).
Andrew Yun, 20, of Chandler, Ariz., is the first alternate.

The biennial Walker Cup Match consists of 18 singles matches and eight foursomes matches over the competition’s two days. The USA Team has won the last three matches and leads the series overall, 34-7-1.
