Pettersen makes it a double with victory in Taiwan
Suzann Pettersen claimed her second victory in two weeks on the LPGA Tour with a three shot win in the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship yesterday.
The R&A Working for Golf Ambassador came from two shots behind at the start of the final round to overhaul Inbee Park and fend off the challenge of world number one and home favourite Yani Tseng.
Last week the Norwegian Solheim Cup star won the KEB-HanaBank Championship in South Korea and the victories have helped her pass the $1 million barrier in earnings for the sixth consecutive season.
“I don't think I've enjoyed myself so much on the golf course like I have the last three or four weeks, so I think that might be a huge part of it,” she told the LPGA website. “Really playing with my heart, playing with my instinct, even on the last shot. Just being aggressive.”
Pettersen posted a three under par 69 in the final round to finish on 19 under par, three shots clear of Park. Tseng was one shot further back on 15 under and Scotland’s Catriona Matthew finished on 14 under par.
Pettersen is one of two R&A Working for Golf Ambassadors along with two-time Open Champion Padraig Harrington. They work to promote the work of The R&A which invests more than £10 million each year in developing golf around the world. Harrington also notched up a victory last week when he captured the PGA Grand Slam of Golf trophy in Bermuda.
