2013 Indonesian Level 2 Rules School
The Indonesian Golf Association ran their inaugural Level 2 Rules School at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club from 28 – 30 January.
The school attracted 38 delegates who attended a mixture of classroom based talks and practical demonstrations on the golf course, both of which utilised The R&A’s Level 2 education materials. During the course, 28 participants took the Level 2 written exam with 16 attaining the pass mark of 60%.
This School is one of several that have been run in Asia following on from The R&A’s first ever “Teach the Teachers” seminar which took place in Thailand in November 2012, where The R&A’s Level 1 and Level 2 materials were made available to national associations in the region.
Course organiser, Eddie Putra said, “This program is brilliant. It has been difficult to send people abroad to attend Rules schools prior to this, as traveling overseas is a luxury to most people in Indonesia. Now that we have education materials we can conduct schools like this ourselves in Indonesia with The R&A’s assistance and encouragement. There should be no reasons for our Referees and others not to upgrade their knowledge on Rules.”
The Indonesian Golf Association is planning on running a Level 1 Introductory Rules School later in 2013. Some of the delegates from the IGA’s Level 2 Rules School will attend The R&A’s Level 3 Tournament Administrator and Referees School in Singapore in March.
