R&A Working for Golf Ambassador Pettersen wins the Evian Championship

Suzann Pettersen won her second Major Championship today with a two shot victory in the Evian Championship.

The R&A Working for Golf Ambassador finished on a ten-under-par total of 203 at the Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France to see off the challenge of McCormack Medal winner Lydia Ko.

Pettersen, who was a key figure in Europe's first Solheim Cup victory on American soil last month, won the rain-shortened Evian Championship to add to her victory in the 2007 LPGA Championship.

The 32-year-old Norwegian saw off the challenge of her 16-year-old opponent with a three-under-par final round of 68. Ko, who finished as the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings for the third year in succession and won the CN Canadian Open for the second time last month, carded a one-under-par round of 70 to finish two strokes back.

Pettersen is one of three Working for Golf Ambassadors along with two-time Open Champion Padraig Harrington and China's Liang Wen-Chong. They promote the work of The R&A which invests up to £10 million each year in developing golf around the world.
