Assistant – Digital Media

The position of Assistant – Digital Media has arisen within the Communications Department at The R&A, St Andrews, golf’s governing body and organiser of The Open Championship.
 
The role will be wide-ranging and challenging and will include the day-to-day management and provision of content for The R&A’s suite of websites, including randa.org and opengolf.com, the official website of The Open Championship. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of content management systems, basic programming, and website design and should be experienced in project management. An interest in golf is preferred but not essential.
 
The Assistant will work closely with the Head of Digital Media and the Communications Department in presenting The R&A and its activities online and will be involved in planning, collation and analysis of website statistics and reporting. The successful candidate will be required to liaise on a daily basis with internal stakeholders and external suppliers from both the website production and content delivery disciplines.
 
There will be occasions when the successful candidate will be expected to work additional hours and travel away from the office.

Job Description
 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Day-to-day management of The R&A’s websites.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure the website content is up-to-date.
  • Maintaining a consistent look and feel throughout all digital properties.
  • Creating, developing and managing website content via content management systems and various internet based tools.
  • Production management of The Open Championship’s Official website, opengolf.com.
  • Management of and provision of content for Social Media websites.
  • Collation and analysis of website statistics.
  • Management of The R&A’s Domain Name portfolio.
  • Day-to-day liaison with website suppliers.
  • Assisting the Head of Digital Media in implementing The R&A’s online commercial programme.
  • Day-to-day management of e-commerce systems.
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with global Affiliates and Partner website contacts.
  • Providing first-level support for internal stakeholders.
 
This post requires the following skills:
 
Mandatory
  • Knowledge of the internet and digital media technologies and trends.
  • Practical experience of Content Management Systems.
  • Experience of working with audio, video and image asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of basic HTML, ASP, DHTML and Javascript, XML, XSLT, IIS, and web design.
  • Practical experience of working with digital imaging software.
  • Project management, planning and reporting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 
Desirable
  • A working knowledge of the Sitecore content management system.
  • Experience of managing multilingual websites.
  • A working knowledge of RSS feeds and community forums.
  • Experience of data management, customer relationship management and newsletter distribution systems.
  • An understanding of website statistics packages.
  • Basic digital film editing.
  • An interest in golf.
