Spectator Information

The Amateur Championship began in 1885 and is now one of the biggest and most prestigious amateur golf events in the world.

288 players from all over the world, will compete in the 36 hole qualifying stage which will be played over Royal Lytham & St Annes and St Anne's Old Links on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 June 2022.

The top 64 players (plus ties) will then battle, head to head, in the knock out match play stages. These begin at Royal Lytham & St Annes on Wednesday 15 June and conclude with a 36 hole Final on Saturday 18 June.

The champion will secure an exemption to The Open and the US Open and by tradition, and invite to play in the Masters Tournament in 2023.

Some of golf’s greatest names have triumphed in The Amateur Championship, including Bobby Jones, Sergio Garcia and José María Olazábal.

Spectators are welcome and tickets are free if booked before the 31st May 2022.

15 June – Round 1 - Royal Lytham & St Annes
16 June – Round 2 and Round 3 - Royal Lytham & St Annes
17 June – Quarter Final and Semi Final - Royal Lytham & St Annes
18 June – Final played over 36 holes - Royal Lytham & St Annes

Please note for the Final the first 18 holes will tee off at 8.30am with the final 18 holes commencing at 1pm.
