The ten-player American team led by Captain John "Spider" Miller visited Hillside Golf Club for a practice round immediately after touching down at Manchester Airport and were re-united with the Walker Cup trophy which has been on display at Royal Lytham.

The USA is defending the trophy in next week’s match after their 17-9 victory at the National Golf Links of America in Southampton, New York in 2013.

Miller said, "Playing in the Walker Cup is a great experience and our guys are thrilled to be here. We have a great team spirit and look forward to playing the match at Royal Lytham & St Annes ".

The GB&I team, captained for the third time by Welshman Nigel Edwards, will be looking to win back the trophy and make it two consecutive victories on home soil after they came out on top in the 2011 match at Royal Aberdeen.
