Golf officials from all over the world will gather in St Andrews this week to take part in a Tournament Administrators and Referees School (TARS), which is organised by The R&A.
Around 90 delegates from 38 countries will attend the course at the Fairmont St Andrews, including representatives from the European Tour, Ladies European Tour, Ecco Tour and national golf associations from around the world.
The Level 3 school is the last stage of The R&A’s three-tier qualification process designed to help candidates achieve the standard of tournament official or referee.
The four-day event will feature practical demonstrations, instruction from leading rules officials and discussions on the Rules of Golf. Other topics including Pace of Play, equipment standards and course set-up will also be covered.
Among the delegates attending include golf professionals Robert Jan Derksen and Gary Orr, European Tour Senior Referee Andy McFee and The R&A’s David Bonsall, Chairman of the Rules Committee, and David Wybar Chairman of the Amateur Status Committee.
