Continent of Europe team for the Vagliano Trophy announced

  • The Continent of Europe team to face Great Britain and Ireland in 2017 Vagliano Trophy match announced.
  • Captain Anna Roscio aiming for sixth successive win.
  • Junior Vagliano Trophy team, captained by Ane Urchegui García also announced.

The teams representing the Continent of Europe against Great Britain and Ireland in the Vagliano Trophy and the Junior Vagliano Trophy has been announced by the European Golf Association (EGA).

The international matches will take place at Golf Club Bogogno in Italy on 30 June and 1 July. The Continent of Europe will be looking for its sixth successive Vagliano Trophy win in the biennial encounter.

The Continent of Europe will be captained again by Anna Roscio, who led the team to a 12½ - 11½ victory over GB&I at the Malone Golf Club in 2015, while Ane Urchegui García will captain the girls’ U16 side.

The eight-player Continent of Europe team for the Vagliano Trophy match is:

“I am really honoured and happy to be the captain of the Continent of Europe team for the second time”, said Roscio. “I have great memories of the last edition and I am really looking forward to being on the course again with the players in my own country.”

The Great Britain and Ireland teams for both international matches were announced last month.

Vagliano Trophy format

The format for the Vagliano Trophy is four foursomes ties each morning and eight singles matches on the afternoon of Friday 30 June and Saturday 1 July. The Junior Vagliano Trophy takes the form of three junior foursomes each morning and six junior singles matches each day.
