Nine golfers have been selected to play for Great Britain and Ireland in the Jacques Léglise Trophy against the Continent of Europe at the Royal Club of Belgium this week.

The amateur boys’ team encounter takes place in Belgium from 22-23 August with GB&I aiming to win the trophy for the first time since triumphing in Finland in 2018. Ben Bolton from England, winner of the Berkhamsted Trophy in April, is among those selected, alongside Irishman John Doyle, runner-up in the St Andrews Links Trophy in June and a quarter-finalist at last week’s Boys’ Amateur Championship. England’s Toby Peters, who won the Peter McEvoy Trophy in April, and countryman Samuel Marshall, who secured the Malcolm Reid Salver, awarded to the best combined score across the Peter McEvoy Trophy and the Carris Trophy, are also in the side. The last meeting between the sides saw the Continent of Europe claim a 12-10 win over GB&I at West Lancashire in 2024. Welshman Chris King returns as GB&I Captain.
