Help your caddie may give you
You may have a caddie to carry, transport and handle your clubs, give you advice and help you in other ways allowed during a round, but you must not have more than one caddie at any one time or change caddies temporarily for the sole purpose of getting advice from the new caddie. There are certain actions that your caddie may take, but only with your authorization (which must be given specifically each time rather than given generally for a round):
  • Restore conditions that were worsened after your ball came to rest (Rule 8.1d).
  • Lift your ball under a Rule requiring it to be replaced when your ball is anywhere except on the putting green.
For full details of what your caddie may do, see Rule 10.3b.
