Global Amateur
Pathway

The Global Amateur Pathway is a strategic collaboration between The R&A, the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.  It is designed to provide a clear route for the world’s leading non-collegiate male amateur golfers to transition into the professional game.

By leveraging the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®), the pathway identifies elite talent globally and offers a direct bridge to membership on the DP World Tour and its associated partner Tours.   The Global Amateur Pathway complements the PGA TOUR University, which awards membership to the top players within the US collegiate (NCAA) system.

Global Amateur Pathway Impact

The efficacy of the pathway is already evident through the early professional successes of its inaugural graduates.

Wenyi Ding (China)

As the first player to top the Global Amateur Pathway rankings in 2024, Ding enjoyed a remarkable rookie season. He recorded six top-20 finishes and concluded the Race to Dubai in 75th position, comfortably retaining his DP World Tour card.
His 2026 season commenced with a runner-up finish at the BMW Australian PGA Championship.
