The R&A has officially opened applications for its next Women in Golf Leadership Programmes, inviting aspiring and current female leaders across the global golf industry to take part in a unique professional development opportunity designed to strengthen leadership skills and build lasting professional networks.
Now a prominent programme which forms part of The R&A’s ongoing commitment to the Women in Golf Charter, the Women in Golf Leadership Programmes have become an important platform for empowering women and supporting greater diversity and inclusion across all levels of the sport. Since launch, more than 300 women from 46 countries around the world have successfully graduated and over 75% have gone onto achieve promotions or career advancements, demonstrating the programmes impact.Open to all women working in organisations signed up to the Women in Golf Charter, the Leadership Programmes are designed to build confidence, enhance communication and strategic thinking skills as well as build participants understanding of effective leadership in a sporting context.Participants also gain access to a global alumnae network, now spanning continents, creating a supportive and collaborative community of professionals leading change in golf. The alumnae network plays a key role in maintaining momentum during and post-programme by offering continued opportunities for mentorship, networking and shared learning.The R&A’s Women in Golf Leadership Programmes are a significant driver of the organisations strategy to break down barriers and provide women with the tools the need to thrive. The programmes align closely with the Women in Golf Charter, established in 2018, which is committed to driving forward change, breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive culture within golf. Speaking about the opening of applications, Jackie Davidson, Director – Golf Education at The R&A said, “This programme is more that just leadership training. It’s about creating a culture shift within the wider golf industry, one that values, supports and promotes women into leadership roles.
