Online entry for this year’s R&A Coronation Foursomes is now open, offering female club golfers from across Great Britain and Ireland the chance to stay and play at the home of golf.

The unique team competition is the largest of its kind in GB&I and attracted over 17,000 women and girls from more than 850 clubs in 2021 – where winning is just part of the fun.Mothers and daughters, friends and family members can again enjoy playing in the popular pairs event this year – all for just £2 per player.
Eden Course finale
After club qualifying and Area Finals, the Grand Final will be held over the Eden Course in St Andrews on Monday 19 September.This year’s 32 finalists will enjoy a two-night stay at the prestigious Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, a drinks reception and prizegiving and have the chance to book a place in the Pro-Am for the 2023 AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath.As part of The R&A’s drive to encourage more women and girls into playing golf, the Coronation Foursomes continues to attract all ages.Last year, one of the youngest ever pairings to have competed claimed a memorable victory at St Andrews when the Pitlochry Golf Club duo of Isla Johnston, aged only 14, and Lauren Cameron, 22, triumphed.
Area Finals
Local qualifying competitions – stand alone or played alongside an existing fixture – can be organised by golf clubs in Great Britain and Ireland over the coming weeks, played over 18 holes of handicap stableford foursomes, with the closing date for entries on Sunday 19 June.The best 100 scores will then qualify for each Area Final held at 16 venues in July and August, before the top 16 teams book their trip to St Andrews for the showpiece final. Johnston and Cameron enjoyed the thrill of success last September. Cameron, a 19-handicapper, only returned to the sport in 2020, while 22-handicapper Johnston has been playing at Pitlochry since the age of six. Cameron said, “I think we knew we had a chance in the Grand Final, but I didn’t think we would do it. It was great just to reach the Final. It’s a great team event and we loved competing in St Andrews and being part of it all.”
Muirfield opportunity
The pair are now looking forward to rubbing shoulders with some of the best female professionals in the world when they compete in the AIG Women’s Open Pro-Am at Muirfield in August. Johnston said, “We’ve never played Muirfield before and I think I’m going to be speechless! I like Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Georgia Hall and Carly Booth, so hopefully they are all there playing.” Cameron added, “It’s incredible to think we’re going to be playing at Muirfield.
