Great Britain and Ireland have won the 51st staging of the Walker Cup at Lahinch.
The home side claimed a dramatic 13½-12½ victory over the United States of America thanks to a Josh Hill putt on the 18th hole. It marks the first time GB&I have lifted the trophy since 2015.
GB&I held a narrow lead going into the second day before losing all four Sunday morning foursomes. However, a heroic afternoon singles session - culminating in Hill’s decisive putt on the final green - ensured the home side emerged victorious.
The Walker Cup is the premier team match in men’s amateur golf, contested biennially by leading players from Great Britain & Ireland and the United States of America.
Played on historic links terrain, the contest tests elite talent across traditional foursomes and singles match play.
