De Bock beat France’s Camille Min Gaultier in the quarter-finals. Not for the first time this week, the Belgian had to mount quite a fightback. She was two down at the 5th and didn’t lead until the 13th, but she closed out a 3&2 win on the 16th, when her opponent found trouble in the rough.
Delon progressed to the last four courtesy of an absorbing victory over Bjorkman. Her stunning tee shot on the 16th was the key moment in her 2&1 triumph.
In the afternoon, she took an immediate lead when De Bock bogeyed the first. After back-to-back bogeys on the 3rd and 4th, she regained her lead with a birdie on the 5th and was three up by the 11th.
Two holes later, her lead was reduced to one and it looked as though another Belgium comeback was on the cards, but Delon pulled away again. Her tee shot on the 16th, to set up a par, sealed victory.
Delon said, “I'm really happy. It’s nice (to never be behind). My coach texted me last night and told me to put in a lot of intensity, starting on the first hole. It's what I tried to do and I did it so I'm really happy. I practise every day to be in this situation.
