Another ball is in the way
If another player reasonably believes your ball might interfere with their play:
  • The other player may require you to mark the spot and lift your ball, but the ball must not be cleaned.
  • If you do not mark the spot before lifting your ball, or you clean the lifted ball when not allowed, you get one penalty stroke.
  • In stroke play only, if you are required to lift your ball under this Rule, you may play first instead.
If the lie of your ball that has been lifted from sand is altered, you must replace the ball in this way:
  • You must re-create the original lie as much as possible.
  • In re-creating the lie, you may leave a small part of the ball visible if the ball was originally covered by sand.
If you play from the right place but fail to re-create the lie in breach of this Rule, you get the general penalty.
