The R&A employ staff in a diverse range of departments including golf development, course management, equipment testing, hospitality, Championship operations, Rules, finance, IT, marketing and communications, and golf heritage.  

Our jobs vacancies page displays employment opportunities in both permanent and temporary roles.  We are always on the lookout for talented individuals and encourage those who wish to develop their career at The R&A to upload their CV.

Your data will not be transferred to any third parties outside of The R&A group companies. In the event that your application is unsuccessful, we will hold the application form and the data contained for three months in case of a future vacancy which we may invite you to apply for, following which we will delete it.

Work at The Open

Join us in summer 2020 when golf's oldest Championship returns to Royal St George’s, on the beautiful Kent coastline for the first time since 2011.

The Open relies on the recruitment of temporary employees and volunteers to help deliver a memorable experience for the thousands of spectators who will be part of the Championship in July 2020.

The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs the sport worldwide, outside the United States and Mexico, on behalf of over 36 million golfers in 143 countries and with the consent of 157 organisations from amateur and professional golf.  The R&A is at the forefront in modernising the sport and making it more relevant to today’s society. The R&A runs professional championships including The Open, The Senior Open and the AIG Women’s British Open, elite amateur events, international matches and rankings. 

The Rules department is involved in writing and interpreting the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status, delivering Rules education and managing the Rules of Golf operations at The R&A’s championships, which includes such activities as course marking, production of Local Rules and the management of refereeing teams.

Based in St Andrews, this exciting role involves a range of duties working within the Rules Department, which include managing correspondence to Rules-related queries, assisting with the ongoing review of the Rules of Golf, contributing to the development of Rules education and leading on Rules matters at R&A championships, including The Open. This role will involve significant periods of travel both nationally and internationally, as well as weekend work.

The R&A’s purpose is to make golf more accessible, appealing and inclusive and to ensure it is thriving 50 years from now. The Finance department plays a key role in supporting that purpose and we are looking for a Finance Project Coordinator to join the Finance Project Team and provide accounting support to the Finance System Manager and wider business throughout the delivery phase of the new ERP solution. 

This is a newly created role and will initially be offered on a 12-month fixed term basis with a potential option for this to be extended.

The R&A, the governing body for the Rules of Golf worldwide (excluding the USA and Mexico), is seeking to recruit experienced cleaning staff to join this famous established organisation.  Primarily based in Forgan House, St Andrews this role is to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the organisation’s various buildings, including the British Golf Museum.

 

Although hours are negotiable, a degree of flexibility is of the utmost importance to provide cover across our premises and assist other members of the team.
