Like the Walker Cup, the St Andrews Trophy is a biennial international match which takes place in non-Walker Cup years.

It is contested by talented amateur golfers from Great Britain and Ireland and the Continent of Europe, using a format which mirrors that of its more well-known counterpart. It was first played in 1956 over the West Course at Wentworth. The next match will be played at Rye Golf Club on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 July 2027. In 2025 it took place from 24-25 July at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro, Spain, with Great Britain and Ireland easing to a 16½-8½ triumph over the Continent of Europe. England’s Luke Poulter took GB&I over the winning line with a one-hole victory over Gunnlaugur Arni Sveinsson from Iceland. Read our full report.
