Caitlin Maurice and Ollie George were the big winners as the University of St Andrews celebrated a sensational double inthe 2025/2026 R&A Student Tour Series.
The scholars were crowned Order of Merit winners after the GrandFinal, which was played across three days at the Jubilee Course and the Old Course in St Andrews. Maurice and George were the best performing players in the respective women’s and men’s categories across the five Student Tour Series events which took place in Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Scotland between September and April. Their successes mean this is the second consecutive year the University of St Andrews has had winners in both the men’s and women’s events.Ellie Monk, also of the University of St Andrews, won the women’s Finalwith last year’s winner Elice Fredriksson in second place, however third place was enough for Maurice to top the overall standings. “I’m very happy. Really proud of myself,” the 23-year-old New Zealander said. “I didn’t have my best stuff this week, and it was challenging conditions at times, but it was fun playing the Old Course. “I had a decent lead coming into the week, but it got close. Elice had a good round yesterday and then she came out firing and had another good day today. I knew around the 12th hole that I needed to finish well, and I managed birdies on 14 and 15. It was a tough finish but really nice to end the way it did.” Maurice, who recently featured in the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific in her home country of New Zealand, won the second event in the Series at Malone Golf Club in October, and performed strongly throughout with top three finishes in each of the other four events. “My win in Ireland was huge for me,” she added. "I played really well in the final round and then won in a play-off. I think I was solid in each event. Being consistent and putting myself in the last group each time was big. “It’s my first year over here in Europe so it’s been awesome to travel around and play in different places. This week is the only week on the Student Tour Series we play links golf and links golf is something I’m new to. It’s different. I do love a good Texas wedge, although learning to keep the ball low is sometimes easier said than done.”
Caitlin Maurice and Ollie George were the top performing players in the 2025/2026 Student Tour Series.
Ben Willis of UCLAN won the men’s Final after a two-hole playoff with Charlie Robb, Will Coxon and Calum Ward. George’s T6 result, which came after an excellent round of 67 on the Jubilee Course on Tuesday, was enough for him to take the overall prize. The permutations meant victory wasn’t certain until the four-way play-off was confirmed on the Old Course on Wednesday.“Dad had the spreadsheets going. We were trying to figure out what the standings were, so it was a nervy last hour or so,” the 19-year-old George said.“It’s a big relief. I’m in my second year now. I found my first year in the Series difficult, but this year to have four out of five top-tens has been great. This is a nice reward for a culmination of good golf, and hopefully it bodes well for this summer going forward.“I’d been solid throughout all the tournaments, but my round on Tuesday on the Jubilee was 5-under and bogey-free. Considering the standings for the Order of Merit, and knowing where I was sitting, to go and play like that with a bit of pressure in the wind, that was definitely the moment of the series for me.”More information on the Student Tour Series is available on our event page.
