The Open Amateur Series

Elite amateur players competing in Europe have an additional chance to qualify for The 154th Open. After its introduction in 2023, the best performing player across The Open Amateur Series - a sequence of three elite amateur championships in Europe - once again will earn an exemption into The Open. The player that receives the most World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) points across the St Andrews Links Trophy, The Amateur Championship and the European Amateur Championship this summer will be a awarded a spot at Royal Birkdale.

The Open Amateur Series – Counting events

The Open Amateur Series exemption is in addition to a number of other exemptions available for amateur players to reach golf's original Championship, including by virtue of winning The Amateur or European Amateur.
