Great Britain and Ireland team selected for the St Andrews Trophy

Nine golfers have been selected to play for Great Britain and Ireland in the St Andrews Trophy against the Continent of Europe at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro. The biennial encounter takes place in Spain on 24 and 25 July with GB&I aiming to regain the trophy after a 16-9 defeat in 2024 at Royal Porthcawl, Wales.GB&I captain Dean Robertson leads the side for a second year which includes three returning players and six debutants.Returning players are Dominic Clemons, Charlie Forster and Connor Graham, who took medallist honours for the second consecutive year at The Amateur Championship in June before qualifying for The 153rd Open at Final Qualifying. Tyler Weaver, who is ranked 14th on the World Amateur Golf Rankings® and the highest ranked player on the team will make his GB&I debut. As will Gavin Tiernan who finished runner-up at The 130th Amateur Championship last month and Luke Poulter, son of Ryder Cup star Ian Poulter. The in-form Cameron Adam, who won The Open Amateur Series to seal his place at Royal Portrush, also joins the team which is rounded out by Stuart Grehan, the Irish Men’s Amateur Open champion and who last played for GB&I in the 2016 match.
